John was feeling a bit under the weather Thanksgiving weekend. We had spent the holiday with his family this year, so I thought this would be a great opportunity to give him some peace and get in a visit with my parents, as well as my sister, Sydney, who is home from college for the holidays.
As we were sitting around their dinning room table, enjoying our Starbucks and playing "Skeletons and Warriors", a board game my 6 year old created, it hit us - Christmas was fast approaching and they still didn't have a family photo for their Christmas card. It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon and the sun was shining brightly, warming everything it touched. There was no way the weather would hold out for another week. We had to act fast.
PERFECT IMPROMPTU LOCATION
Having a photographer in the family definitely has it's perks! We did their shoot right there on their beautiful property. I grew up there and even though I never got the horse I dreamed of owning, I will still always love the tall grasses, sweeping hills and a red barn - a perfect setting for their impromptu shoot.
IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA
We took a ton of photos and had a great time goofing off and enjoying each others company. I even got a few shots with my boy - thanks to Sydney for playing photographer. It's rare that I am in a photo and not holding the trigger remote. It is pretty nice to have someone pose me, as opposed to me trying to figure out if I am standing in a flattering position and if my hair looks good!
I hope you were able to get some family photos taken this fall! Send me a message next fall and I'll come laugh with you and capture wonderful memories to have for a lifetime.
The Christmas Season is upon us, Cheers!
