This time of the year I always feel the need to slow down - work less and play more. I have very fond memories as a kid at Christmastime and I want my kids to have great memories too. With Christmas being just one short week away, I am kicking the Christmas Traditions into full gear. If you need to catch up on our Christmas Traditions Part I & Part II, now would be a great time!
Last week we put the finishing touches on our Christmas decorating, except for one tree outside with only half the lights working. With all intentions of replacing that strand, I honestly think that it's just not going to happen. There is about 8 inches of snow out there and a wind chill below zero. If the lights on one tree remain half lit, I am okay with that. John is just getting over a double whammy of sickness, no doubt caught from our little school-goers. I am praying that we are all healthy this year - last year, my youngest had a fever on Christmas and it was the pits!
I mentioned putting up our Christmas tree in Part I, but here are some of my favorite Christmas ornaments. We have a ton- too many, really, but, the homemade ones the kids made are my absolute favorite. I will cherish them always.
We made our yearly visit with Santa just yesterday. We timed it perfectly, where normally there is an hour-long line, today we walked right up without having to wait at all. The kids even got to chit-chat with Santa a bit longer than usual. They were ecstatic.
We have some more baking to do, which I will share with you in the coming days and then Christmas will be here. I always find that the time leading up to Christmas is the most fun. Don't get me wrong, I love Christmas Day, but it comes and goes in a whirlwind and before I know it, it's over. However, nothing can beat Christmas morning, watching the wonder in our kids eyes as they run down the stairs at 6 a.m. - but, that's a good thing, because if it wasn't for that wonder, the lack of sleep would be my undoing.
How are you "wrapping up" (no pun intended, okay, it was) your preparations for Christmas? Leave me a comment, I would love to hear from you!
