What a year it has been. I started my photography business. I started a blog. I met some amazing, like-minded photographers from all over the country, including the amazing Amy and Jordan Demos. I had some wonderful opportunities to photograph many beautiful families, individuals, animals and even my first real estate property. My husband and I have watched our children grow and laughed so much along the way.
WHAT I LOST
However, 2016 was not all smiles and laughter. I lost my grandma and dog within 1 month, to the day, from each other. It was an end of a generation for my family and a beautiful friendship for me. The world lost many influential people as well, including, David Bowie, Prince, Muhammad Ali, Gene Wilder and Carrie Fisher, to name a few.
WHAT I LEARNED
All the good experiences have been filed away in my memory bank to be called upon for inspiration and as a reference on what worked. All the bad will be chalked up as a reminder that life is hard, but we will survive even the greatest heartache.
"I didn't say it was going to be easy. I said it would be worth it."
SETTING GOALS FOR 2017
I have goals for 2017, but I am a bit superstitious when it comes to sharing them. Besides, I like surprises. The one thing I can say is that I am not going away. I am not giving up or throwing in the towel. I am never giving up. The way I see it, if I never give up on my dream, then eventually it will become reality, and I intend to see this one through.
I will leave you with some of my favorite photos of 2016. These people have made my year and given me more than I realized was possible!
Best Wishes for a Happy, Healthy and Prosperious New Year!
