As a photographer, you would think I had a million photos of my family. Well, I do, of my kids, but my husband is not one to beg me to take his photo. And, since I am the photographer, I am always behind the camera, so sadly, family photos are not as abundant as I would like.
One great thing about my kids being young and starting up the school year is that their teacher always requests a family photo of each student to hang in the classroom. This year was no exception.
I didn't really have much time to plan ahead, but Saturday evening, I got the trusty tripod and remote trigger out to get a few shots of all 4 of us, together. This is a lot harder than it sounds. For one, we didn't have much time to coordinate outfits, and since it was so informal, I was lucky that everyone was dressed - the kids were in their PJ's all day, up until about 20 minutes prior to photo time.
I am so used to being behind the camera, seeing the whole scene come together. I can easily adjust everyone's positions to make the most pleasant and flattering shot. However, in this case, I didn't have the luxury. I couldn't even tell what I looked like, so it was kind of a smile-and-hope-for-the-best moment.
In the end, I was able to take a decent shot, that may not win any awards, but it will forever hold a special place in my heart. Maybe next year, I will hire a photographer.
I love these 3 boys, so very much. They keep me grounded, dreaming and a smile on my face. What more could I ask for?
