Arika and Craig really know how to start the year off with a bang! Their January 5th wedding was a seriously beautiful (and very cold!) proclamation of their love! The day stated off at a crisp -10 degrees (that’s Fahrenheit folks, and yes, that’s a negative!), but the cold couldn’t put a damper on their day. As the sun rose in the clear blue sky (rare for a Michigan winter day), it was apparent that it was shining just for them.
The morning passed quickly as Arika and her bridesmaids got ready at her parents’ house, and Craig and the guys at his. The buzz of excitement filled both houses as the sun made the snowflakes sparkle like a million tiny diamonds in the snow.
The ceremony at Holy Cross Catholic Church was breathtaking. The sermon was spot-on as Father Rooney spoke of the weight a couple must carry in marriage is often unequal, but in time switches from husband to wife and back again. As we took sunset portraits in the cold and snow, we joked that this was one of those moments - as Arika in her trusty snow boots (she’s a great planner), cleared a spot for Craig to stand in his dress shoes and tux, all while holding her dress and beautiful cathedral length veil.
The most prominent theme from Arika and Craig’s wedding was the overwhelming amount of love being given and received freely throughout the entire day – on both sides and as a whole. It was heartwarming to watch, and cannot be easily described in words, but rather, something that had to be witness.
So without further ado, below are our favorites from their wedding day. Check out the wooden bow ties Craig made for his groomsmen - if you recall from his proposal, he knows his way around the workshop!
