If you are old enough to know this song, then I deeply apologize for putting it in your head - it may be there for awhile. You know what else is here to stay? This lady!
I have known Kelly, AKA Audrie Star, for several years. I had recently done head shots for her, and we had a ball, so I was ecstatic when she asked me to do this photo shoot with her.
Kelly is no stranger to the vintage scene. She knows just what's needed to seamlessly slip herself into character, right down to every last detail; que the donuts, perfectly cocked hip and of course the milkshakes!
When it came to location, Kelly had just the place. The "set" was courtesy of her friend and his adorable vintage-styled home. There was no shortage of 50's decor, but what made this place really special was all the unique and unexpected elements. If you have never seen the front end of a car mounted to the wall or sat on a double bass, then you haven't truly lived.
We had so much fun creating tons of variety for Kelly to choose from – she planned to submit them to a magazine for publication. We were anxious to get the photos submitted, but as the weeks went by we heard nothing. We kept holding on to the hope that no news was good news, and then it happened. Kelly just happened to be browsing Pinup Kulture’s Instagram feed and saw that their new issue was out. On a whim, she checked it out and there she was on page 19! We were both ecstatic! It’s not everyday that you are featured in a magazine! I immediately ordered a magazine for my office – there is just something really cool about seeing your name & work in print!
The best part of this experience has been the client/photographer relationship. Kelly had the long-time goal of getting published in Pinup Kulture Magazine, and when I am given a challenge, it’s full steam ahead. I don’t give up easily and let’s be honest; having my work published is an amazing feeling that NEVER gets old! We both had goals and we worked together to achieve them – now that’s a great relationship!
Here are some of our favorites from the shoot. If you want to check out the magazine, head over to my Publications page for a link to this issue of Pinup Kulture (Vol. 3, Issue 4)!
Kelly, thank you for trusting me to help you reach this goal. You are a beautiful and amazing women inside and out and I know you are just getting warmed up!
