I recently met up with Kat and Jon in Birmingham at Quarton Lake Park. We were meeting for the very first time… cue the nerves… for their engagement session. The engagement session that has been a long time in the making. Jon purposed to Kat in February of 2017, so I think it is safe to say that these two aren’t afraid to take their time and enjoy the process.
It’s true what they say about first impressions – there is no such thing as a second chance to make a good first impression. Also, and more importantly, the first impression is what sticks with you. It’s like the first impression is written in your memory with a Sharpie and after that, the brain uses a dry-erase marker. So, with a figurative sharpie are the words: fun, laughter and loving, written about Jon and Kat in my memory.
As a photographer, I have the unique opportunity to study people’s faces. As I edited their engagement session these three words kept reappearing. Fun, laughter, loving. The shared glances, warm embraces and secrets whispered into each others ears, followed by laughter was so fun to watch. I suppose it’s very fitting that Kat is a teacher and Jon is in the hospitality industry. Talk about finding your calling!
Their wedding is just around the corner, and coincidentally, the day after my husband and I celebrate our 11 year anniversary. I think this is a bride & groom/photography team made in heaven! We are looking forward to their October wedding, but until then, here are some of my favorites from their engagement session.
Kat and Jon, you two are beautiful humans, inside and out. We cannot wait to capture your wedding day!
