Welcome back to my blog series on what to wear to your engagement photo session. So far I have covered how to coordinate colors and what styles to wear. If you missed these posts, you can find them here:
What To Wear To Your Engagement Session, Part II
In Part III of this series, we are going to talk about accessorizing your engagement look! When I say this, the first thing that might come to mind is a 1980’s Madonna music video: a bride with big hair and big hair accessories, mesh gloves and way too many necklaces and bracelets. However, I am a lover of classic & timeless, so you can be sure no Hair Net will be involved! Picking one key accessory is the trick and this mainly applies to the ladies.
Tip 1: Wear a statement necklace. This is a great way to add some fun to your look, while keeping it classy.
Tip 2: If you wear a statement necklace, wear understated earrings - or, vice versa and you can switch it up between outfits.
Tip 3: Avoid flashy bracelets, they detract from your engagement ring - we definitely don’t want that! If you really want to wear a bracelet, keep it small and understated.
Tip 4: For the guys... wear a belt that matches your shoes. If you are wearing brown shoes, you should be wearing a brown belt. You don’t want to wear a black belt with brown shoes or a brown belt with black shoes. This is a good tip for everyday life as well!
Tip 5: I already mentioned this is the post on style, but ladies, wear heels with dresses. Your legs will look amazing and you’ll thank me when you see your photos!
Tip6: Make-up: Keep it natural or how you normally wear it. You can definitely step it up a notch (it’s not a bad idea to get your make-up done professionally for you photo session and this can serve as a run through for your wedding day), but you ultimately want to look like you! You are beautiful, so let your natural beauty shine though!
Tip 7: With all the tips that I have given you, this one I want you to remember first: be true to yourself! When you look back on your photos, I want you to love what you see, not think “what was I thinking?” You are going to feel your very best when you feel confident and happy and that’s what I want to capture!
Congratulations on your Engagement! The fun has just begun!
