Do you dread Mondays? Do you start dreading Mondays on Sunday mornings? Do you have a good 20+ hours before you have to be presentable and ready to hit the ground running on Monday morning, but it’s ruining your Sunday Funday? You are in luck! I am going to show you how to take the “long” out of “work week”.
I don’t know about you, but the weekends are the only part of the week that I have time to catch up on chores around the house. With a busy work schedule and kid’s sports schedules, finding time to do laundry, gardening and keeping the house in a somewhat presentable state, can be a challenge – not to mention putting aside time to have fun! If I can manage to get all the laundry washed, dried, folded and put away, I feel like a superhero! It’s also a great feeling to have all my favorite ensembles fresh and ready for the work week.
Another great thing I do to get organized is grocery shop. You may not think this would fall under “get organized” but having fresh fruit and veggies washed and prepped, along with meals planned for the whole week, makes a huge difference each morning and evening throughout the week. Don't get me wrong, this doesn’t always happen, but when it does, it’s amazing!
Speaking of grocery shopping, picking up lots of healthy foods at the store, makes me feel motivated and energized. Saying I have a sweet tooth is an understatement, but thankfully I have strong will power to keep myself in check. If I can make it out of the grocery store with only health meals and snacks, I don’t have the option to eat badly. And, at the end of the day, I can feel good about myself, instead of guilty about the giant bowl of ice cream I just consumed. (Hint: stay on the perimeter of the grocery store. All the middle isles are full of junk!)
I have two kids. Even at ages 7 and 4, they keep me and my husband awfully busy with swimming, soccer, ice skating and soon t-ball. We have an after-school/work activity almost every day of the week and I hate when I have to miss a practice or a game. I love that my kids are active in sports and I always try to set a good example by being active myself. However, after all the post school activities, I am exhausted, but ready to work on building my wedding photography business or crash into bed. So, I choose to get up at 5am to exercise. I know this may sound a bit crazy to most people, but I am just not the best version of myself without a good workout under my belt each day. I feel so much more motivated during the day when I have gotten my workout in first thing in the morning. I also feel a sense of accomplishment in the evening when I don’t have a workout still hanging over my head or worse - I skip it because I am too exhausted.
Ah, time break out that trusty to-do list! Make a list of realistic goals and set out to accomplish a few throughout the week. You will feel motivated each morning to keep at your goals and feel a sense of accomplishment for taking control over your week and life! There is nothing worse than having too ambitious of a goal and then failing to accomplish it at the end of the week. Your motivation will take a nose dive and that desire to quit will be ever stronger. Once I accomplish a goal in my business or personal life, it motivates me to work on the next goal and the next. Before I know it, I am leaps and bounds ahead of where I was when I began. Now that is powerful!
I hope this list gives you some mid-week motivation and helps you gear up for next week. Bonus: next work week is only 4-days, thanks to Memorial Day! Enjoy and let me know which of these tips you are willing to try or have already incorporated into your weekly routine.
Mid-week Cheers to you!
